

FIELD PLAYER
FITNESS TESTS AND REQUIREMENTS
To quote a UNC Women’s Soccer player:
“Fitness isn’t just our friend, it is our best friend.”
To win a state championship in high school soccer, a team’s fitness MUST be at a VERY
high level. With that in mind, to succeed at Niceville High School on the girls’ Soccer
team, your fitness level must be very high. The following are fitness levels that must be
met before the first game to play at Niceville:
Anaerobic tests are required and must be accomplished as stated.
(See exceptions at bottom)
Anaerobic Fitness
120s (ten 120s – 20 second sprint, 60 second jog to return/rest*) VARSITY
120s (eight 120s – 24 second sprint, 60 second jog to return/rest*) JV
*an extra 15 seconds will be added to the rest after runs 4 and 7
Aerobic, Speed, and Strength are based on a point system for five tests.
VARSITY must score at least a “P” (PASS) in all 5 tests and a minimum of 9 points total.
JV must score at least a “P” (PASS) in 3 of the 5 tests and a minimum of 3 points total.
Aerobic Fitness
Two laps – under 3:00 P 1 mile – under 7:15 P
under 2:55 1 points under 7:00 1 points
under 2:47 2 points under 6:45 2 points
under 2:40 3 points under 6:30 3 points
Speed
40 yd dash – under 6.00 P
under 5.95 1 point
under 5.85 2 points
under 5.70 3 points
Strength
Sit-ups in 1 min – 45 P
50 1 point
60 2 points
65 3 points
AND
Push-ups in 2 min – 20 P
30 1 point
45 2 points
60 3 points
OR
Bench Press – 100 lbs or 85% of body weight (whichever is greater) 3 points
EXCEPTIONS:
Any player who completes the 10 sets of 120s at 18 seconds per 120 is exempt from all
other fitness tests.
The coaches reserve the right to modify the requirements for players based on
documented medical concerns.
