HUGAP

Grading Procedures:

TESTS (40%) – Tests will cover multiple chapters plus materials covered in class.  They will
be timed, multiple choice tests to practice the format that the AP Exam is in.  Also like the AP
Exam, they will also be cumulative of all the material that has been covered up to that test,
however the majority of each test in class will be from the material we have most recently
covered.  There will be approximately three to four tests per nine weeks.

FREE RESPONSE QUESTIONS (30%) – Free response questions (FRQs) make up 50% of
the score on the AP Exam and therefore will be a major part of your grade in this class.
Students will be given multiple FRQs per nine weeks.  These FRQs will be set up like the
ones on the AP Exam and will be graded accordingly.

VOCABULARY/MAP QUIZZES AND MAJOR PROJECTS (20%) – Vocabulary is a major
aspect of the course that will greatly aid a student’s ability to succeed on both parts of the AP
Exam.  Therefore, vocabulary for each chapter will be quizzed.  These dates are listed on the
reading calendar.  Map quizzes will be scheduled as needed.  There will be various projects
throughout the year to help reinforce HUGAP concepts.  Most of these are group projects
with the students selecting their own groups.  Choose WISELY!

PARTICIPATION/ASSIGNMENTS (10%) – Class participation is an important part of any
course.  You are expected to participate in ALL class discussions and debates.  Unexcused
absences and tardies, sleeping in class, talking off topic, putting on make-up, writing notes to
classmates, working on homework for other classes, and other off-task occurrences will be
reflected in your participation grade.  We will often discuss and debate issues about which
people might have a strong point of view.  Follow the rules of common courtesy and respect
others views.
There will be various assignments given in class throughout the year.  Some will be
completion only (complete-100%, incomplete-0%, no partial credit).  Others will be graded.
Assignments are due when you walk in to class (LATE WORK IS NOT ACCEPTED).  Take
home assignments should be typed in New Times Roman 12pt on standard white paper
unless otherwise noted.
